the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR

Method: 60 minute station count at 100m west of "3 rocks" on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting on beach, sitting
on ocean or sitting on river.

Notes: I counted 102 juv CASPIAN TERNS and no fewer than
28 COMMON MURRE chicks today among the other seabirds. A single
RUDDY TURNSTONE was feeding near the loafing tern flocks. A BALD
EAGLE made a half-hearted attempt at the terns, but was chased off
by a mob of adults
