On a rare birding/sightseeing trip outside of Oregon over the weekend, I
saw what to me were somewhat unexpected birds in central Washington:
1 mile Below Wanapum Dam: 14 FORSTER'S TERNS on an island. 2 AM. WHITE
PELICANS on the same island. 2 WHITE-FACED IBIS (fly by). 3
WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS.
At Wild Horses Monument: LARK SPARROW 2
Below Lenore (?) Caves, north of Soap Lake: RED-NECKED GREBE a pair, in
a small shallow, reedy lake. YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD 1 male, and
AMERICAN AVOCET 1, same place.
At Dry Falls: WHITE-THROATED SWIFT 4
These were all on Monday, 5/31
