My family went over to a friend's house for a Memorial Day barbecue last
night. Our friend has a feeder, which attracted a number of species I
had never observed up close before.

The house is in a development off Boulevard Road in SE Olympia.

Species seen (I'll see if I can remember them all!):

American Crow
House Sparrow
European Starling
Brown-headed Cowbird
House Finch
Rufous Hummingbird
Violet-green Swallow
Tree Swallow
(our friend has 2 birdhouses; one is occupied by a pair of Tree
Swallows, the other by a late-nesting pair of V-Gs.)
Cedar Waxwing
Red Crossbill
Savannah Sparrow (my first)
Evening Grosbeak
(a spectacular pair!)
Red-tailed Hawk (way off in the distance)
