A friend and I saw two American Bitterns at Spencer Island on Monday, May 31.

As you walk across the bridge, walk straight ahead and take the first
boardwalk overlook to the right. A Great Blue Heron flew down squawking just
beyond the overlook and flushed a Bittern. Another Bittern flew up just past
the barn.
