Not as rare as you think, Dennis, and I can't believe you're so insensitive
as to believe that the person with allergies was born that way. Many, many
allergies are ACQUIRED. Humans evolved in an environment free of such things
as dioxin, Roundup and other nasties. Why do you believe that humans don't
react to these things like birds, insects and plants do? Is this hubris or
what??

I, too, live "in the heart of farm country" that also happens to be downwind
of one of Weyerhausers tree farms. THey spray. I don't care what they tell
you, they spray the living shit out of those trees. THey spray at night, not
because the wind is down...because where I live, the wind is ALWAYS
blowing...but because there's fewer people outdoors to smell that stuff as
it's floating on the wind. Fewer people smelling it means fewer complaints to
the EPA. And it doesn't always land on the trees or whatever they're trying
to kill..........I cannot hang laundry on a nice breezy day without the
clothes coming in, dry but STICKY.

If you doubt the spreading of their sprays, and their effectiveness, come out
here someday with an insect net. THe further from the tree farm you get, the
more bugs in the net. "The proof of the pudding is in the eating.", as
Shakespeare said....
