Hi Tweeters!

I originally intended to go looking for the stork near 277th and W.
Valley Road, but I couldn't find a safe place to park. So I checked out
Lake Fenwick (City of Kent, WA).

Wow, what a wonderful little woodland lake and habitat. Here's what I
spotted during my brief visit:

Lots of ROBINS
A couple of MALLARDS
WOOD DUCK mom and three ducklings
Two male WOOD DUCKS and a female with no ducklings
Many RED WING BLACKBIRDS
FOX SPARROW (my first sighting - it was large for a sparrow, fairly solid
brown on top and streaked and mottled brown on the breast and bottom - a
very round bird with somewhat narrow tail. It was busy pecking around
the edge of the path - fussing around cottonwood fluff. It moved like a
sparrow, so I assume this is an accurate sighting)
CEDAR WAXWING (In profile against the sky. The crest was very apparent,
and size seemed right)
HOUSE FINCH - Almost orange in color.
NORTHER FLICKER - female
Female RED WING BLACKBIRD
PIED BILLED GREBE
VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS
Some very small tweeties that wouldn't hold still long enough for me to
i.d.

Strange bird call: It came from the marshy side of the path. It sounded
like a wild hysterical laugh! What the heck could that have been? LOON?

Even stranger bird: I circled around the paths twice, going from south
to north and back again. There was a strange yellow creature sitting on
the platform with an aray of poles sticking out from it's motionless
body. I think it was a fisherman. Or maybe a mannequin. I dunno. I
swear he didn't move one inch while I was there, let alone notice the Red
Wing Blackbird squawking loudly ten feet from where he was vegging out.

I'm heading out there again!
