I went to Spencer Island at 6am Friday morning and on a pile of brush by the
bridge I saw a bird I'm not sure of. I think it was a savannah sparrow but
would like to know what others think. It was about six inches long with a
heavish beak, a brown slightly streaky back, gray chest with no markings
and, by far the most striking, its head had a white central stripe, a white
stripe above the eyes and a white stripe below the eyes. The feathers on the
back of the head seemed kind of cresty. I was only about three feet away and
he wasn't at all afraid of me. There was some streaking on either side of
his chest but it was almost entirely unmarked gray. Any ideas?

I also saw a common yellowthroat witchety-witcheying to beat the band, GBH,
swallows of all types.
