I received the following interesting report from Nancy Kohn at Battelle
Lab in Sequim -- thought you'd be interested. Although I'm not sure
about the cormorant species, I suspect it is a Pelagic, which are most
abundant in Sequim Bay this time of year.

Also, to add to the Lazuli Bunting reports in western Washington this
spring -- one was seen in Port Angeles on 5/29, 6/1, and 6/2, in a
neighborhood on the east side of town.

>Wow! A bald eagle just pounced on a cormorant! in the water, and crawled to
>shore with it, "swimming" with its wings and holding the cormorant under
water.
>The eagle stopped to rest as soon as it hit very shallow water over the
mudflat
>at the mouth of Washington Harbor lagoon, still holding the cormorant under,
>then crawled the rest of the way to the beach, dragging the cormorant by its
>head!! Its now enjoying lunch.
