Hi All
The weather was absolutely awful - high winds, drizzle changing to heavy
rain. It definitely wasn't a birding day. Being the local bird fanatic in
this small community, I get lots of those calls: "what do I do with a baby
....?" ; or "what bird is this, I really didn't get a good look but it was
kind of brown and ...". But today's phone call was about a flock of 8
American White Pelicans at the north end of Kootenay Lake. Sure enough,
after some frantic back and forth driving, I found them. They were flying
above the flats on the east side of the lake, eventually settling on the
water at the tip of the lake. What a fantastic reward for answering all
those "hey bird lady questions". I'll bet this is the first sighting for
this locale.
:-))
Cheers
