Hi Susan,

On spring (late May-June) Okanogan County trips since 1997, I seen nesting
Red-necked Grebes on the following lakes (Delorme p. 114, 115, 116 - lakes
listed from west to east):

Lake Conconully
Whitestone Lake (Loomis-Oroville Rd)
Muskrat Lake (north of Havillah)
Beaver Pond along Little Beaver Creek (Oroville-Toroda Cr. Rd)

I didn't visit all of these areas in all years, so I don't know how
consistnet nesting is from year to year at any one location. Last weekend,
we saw nesting birds (2 pair on nests) on Muskrat Lake and foraging birds
(2) on Lake Conconully.

The WA breeding bird altas indicates that Red-necked Grebes are fairly
common nesters in lakes, ponds, or slow-moving water bodies with the
emergent vegetation required for nesting in the northeast corner of the
state (from the Okanogan River valley east).
