The 6 eggs in the Western Bluebird nestbox in Bonney Lake have produced at
least 5 youngsters. First clue was about three days ago when both male and
female were out of the nest and returning with beaks full every ten to
fifteen minutes. The hatchlings were first checked today and 5 'big' mouths
were counted quickly before we beat a hasty retreat. This is the nest that
had a first clutch of 5 eggs and a male died in the nestbox. Removal of the
dead male prompted building a second nest on top of the first with its eggs.
When checked (both nests) all eggs were blue (no cowbird parasitism).
