I have had bewicks wrens nest in an storage shed and in a
nest box. I would not call the nest in the storage shed a cup
shaped nest, but it was not a cavity, they built nest of dried grass and
weeds with dir/mud, and it was generally cup-shaped.

But such a nest would never be built in a shrub.

Our chickadees have flown the coop. They took off very quickly and
I did not get a good count of survivors. There were four
babies a week ago. Hopefully all made it.

The stump at north Seattle Community College is also empty, and
I'm somewhat amazed. Usually the parent and kids stick around for
2-3 days, plenty of time to see them. Maybe the cold weather
has sent them south already.
