This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

A MOUNTAIN QUAIL was observed south of Riggins, Idaho County, Idaho on
May 31 by Charles Swift. Take US 95 south from Riggins, turn west and
head toward the Rapid River Fish Hatchery. Take the Rapid River Trail
(#113) about 3 miles in to an obvious campsite between the first and
second bridges. The bird was seen twice in the campsite and on the
nearby scree slope. ID DeLorme 50, B-3.

A singing male AMERICAN REDSTART was at Wanapum Dam SP just south of
Vantage, Kittitas County, Washington according to Steve Maladin (sp?)
and Bill Tweit. WA DeLorme 52, AB-1.

A male TRI-COLORED BLACKBIRD was near Othello, Adams County,
Washington. The bird was near the pond at the Nestle potato
processing plant, according to Steve and Bill. Also on the pond were
3 BARROW'S GOLDENEYE. WA DeLorme 53, B-7.

A SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was on the Iowa Dodd Beef settling ponds in
western Walla Walla County, Washington on May 30, according to Dennis
Rockwell. Take the Dodd Road east from US 12, about 5 miles north of
the jct of US 12 and US 730. WA DeLorme 40 CD-1.

A BURROWING OWL was seen a few miles south of Ephrata, Grant County,
Washington on May 30 by Jerry and Sandy Converse. The bird was one
mile SW of the intersection of WA 283 and WA 28, which is a few miles
south of Ephrata. WA DeLorme 68, BC-3.
