Hi Tweeties!

Hit the trail again today in search of "Woody Woodpecker". No such luck,
but I did see "My Friend Flicker" though.....twice. The first one I saw
was being chased by a pack of crows!

The second FLICKER was "hanging" out on an evergreen above the pump
station shed at the north end of the lake.

High above the lake I heard another gang of angry crows. I looked up,
up, up, up and found out what got this bunch all in a tizzy. Perched in
this tree was an adult BALD EAGLE, kinda hunkered down, dodging the dive
bombing crows. Every so often it would emit a weary, half hearted eagle
scream. By this time I was flat on my back with binoculars pointed
skyward watching the show. Eventually the eagle took off with crows in
hot pursuit.

I also spotted my first ever BULLOCKS ORIOLE. It was black with white
spots on wings and two shades of orange. It did have more black on the
head than the one in my Peterson's book.

On the ridge above the lake and on the trail along the east side of the
ridge I spied three SPOTTED TOWHEES. These towhees weren't making the
kind of call the one I heard at Eastgate made.

Also spotted near the Woodside Village apartments (the ones at the
Kent-DesMoines & Reith Roads) were two GREEN HERONS!

MALLARD with eight ducklings
WOOD DUCK and ducklings

A WREN of some kind
FOX SPARROW

So much for my hike today.
