While slowing down on Keeler Road just east of Sequim to turn onto a
gravel road I observed a white-headed Brewer's Blackbird. Stopped and
put the binocs on it. It was a male. Somebody must have really scared it
to turn its hair - er - feathers white. Its head a had a couple very
small black feathers.

Some years ago there was a piebald Robin seen by several people,
including self, at several places in Sequim.

In l987 while banding at Diamond Point, about 15 miles northeast of
Sequim, I trapped two albinistic young House Finches, possibly from the
same brood. Both were a very light biege with red eyes.

While stationed as the refuge biologist at the Sacramento N.W. Refuge
near Willows, CA. in the mid late fifties, I trapped an all white
Red-winged Blackbird, possibly Tri-colored, with very faint red
epaulets. We had both species there. Took photos and deposited them in
refuge files. What happened to the photos after 45+ years is anybody's
guess.

Working with wildlife, you get some surprises. As the old saying goes,
"Ain't nature grand."
