A few days ago, I gave the dogs a couple of rib bones. After gnawing for
awhile, they took a break to run inside and do some barking. (They're
poodles, so they have to take frequent barking breaks.) I was amazed to
look out in the back yard and see a crow flying off with a rib bone,
(trailed across the yard by an outraged poodle). I retrieved the remaining
rib bone. It weighed about 100 grams. Dick Johnson looked at the weights
of crows in the Connor Museum. They weighed between 330 and 450 grams, with
most about 380-390 grams. So, the crow was probably carrying about 1/4 of
its body weight. Not too shabby.
