I live on a boat in Elliott Bay Marina, which is the one on Puget Sound just
below and to the south of Magnolia Bluff. I have been compiling a list of
birds seen in and around the marina, which I am posted in the harbormaster's
office. By "in and around the marina" I mean actually in the marina, on the
bluff just above the marina, on the water within a half-mile or so, and visible
flying overhead from the marina. I don't want birds that should be here but
just those actually seen. As we all know, the birds don't read the books or
follow directions well as to where they should be.

I don't have time to bird the area intensively and know there are a lot of
birds missing, and I know some of you do get down here occasionally. In fact,
I met Deborah a couple of months ago on the patio at the Maggie Bluffs
Restaurant overlooking the marina (recognizing her by her binoculars, of
course). If any of you would be willing to take a look at my bird list and
supplement it, I would be most grateful. I sometimes browse the Tweeters
digest but also don't have time to read it in detail, so please contact me
off-line about this. If you like, I'll send you the list I have so far.

And no, I looked all winter and never saw a yellow-billed loon in the marina!
