Dear Tweets,

Janet and I hiked the Nason Ridge trail from the Nason Creek Campground
this weekend. Of course we couldn't find the trail so we crossed the golf
course and found an abandoned jeep trail which got us up onto the ridge
via some old logging fields. It was a beautiful hot sunny day. Many
WESTERN TANAGERS showed up along the way. Up on the ridge in an old
logging clearcut was a MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, KESTREL, FLICKER, and a
NIGHTHAWK whirring along with a deer and a coyote which turned up quite
close to us.

Further up were MACGILLIVRAY'S and YELLOW WARBLERS. A young VARIED THRUSH
stopped by and we heard HERMIT and SWAINSON'S THRUSHes singing. STELLER'S
and GRAY JAYs and some CLARK'S NUTCRACKERs were about.

A RED-TAILED HAWK and a TURKEY VULTURE flew over.

On the way down we did *finally* find the trail so it was a much easier
and shorter descent.

At the campground in the middle of Nason Creek there was an AMERICAN
DIPPER's nest in the end of a log above the water. The parent would dive
into the water and then fly up to the nest and occasionally you could see
this tapping mouth appear.
