On the new generation rat poisons (Brodificumb) YES animals can get
secondary poisoning from eating animals killed by the poison (or not yet
dead) Some of the poisons come in parafin blocks and some in grain. I
have seen in clinical practice both primary and secondary poisoning.
Vitamin K therapy lasts a minimum of 30 days, on difficult cases
longer. Imagine the case of the dog with bowel obstruction due to the
parifin block of this stuff. Care to operate on an animal that can't
clot?
I have my own concerns that these products could impact rodent eating
raptors and owls.
