>>I thought people who are eager to see Red-breasted Sapsuckers should know
about a reliable place to find them--here on the Evergreen campus.<<

Hi Tweets:

For any of you who may have followed my saga of the Red-breasted Sapsucker
that utilized the rain-water downspout for a period of 64 days, I'm happy to
report that I've located the nest site. It is quite easy to see from one of
the trails. The adults frequently fly to a neighbor's sweet-gum tree next to
the road before returning to the nest-hole. I can hear little ones cheeping,
but apparantly they are still too young to poke their heads out. It takes
the adults only a few seconds to feed the young, before they're off again in
search of more morsels. I can't imagine keeping up this pace all day long.
