Hi Tweets!
I headed back to the Old Fishing Hole (Kent-DesMoines Rd & W. Meeker in
Kent, WA) to check on the Redwings. I found another family group. Two
youngsters were sitting on branches near the water waiting for mom.
These birds were a bit more mature looking than the one hunkered down in
the nest last night. Mom shows up and the mouths gaped open. One of the
youngsters made a short flight out of sight deep into thick shrub. Dad
Redwing was squawking up a storm and flying close to where ever I stood.

Also seen at the Old Fishing Hole was a GREEN HERON. It was in "hunkered
down mode", doing a very good job of blending in with its background.

WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT? Department.......I caught a frustratingly brief
glance at an almost blood red headed bird on the grass ahead of me. It
and a companion flew off before I could get a good look at it. I don't
recall what the rest of the bird looked like, that RED head really caught
my attention. Was it a WESTERN TANAGER?

In the area near the apartments across the Kent-DesMoines Road I found
dozens of BLACK CAPPED CHICKADEES. These LITTLE birds were hanging
upside down from large leaves!

The pond again had its resident GREEN HERONS in view. I spied two this
time. The light was catching the birds in just the right way and I could
really see the green in its wings and back. Beautiful birds.
