While my Dad and I were gone to Mount Rainier (where we observed blue
grouse and grey-headed rosy-finches), my Mom saw an incredibly strange bird
outside in our yard on Mercer Island. What she described immediately put the
picture of an ELEGANT TROGON in my head, but how could that be?!
Here's her description:

very red belly and a small amount of white on the underbelly
bright green breast
longish tail
fairly large
obviously not anything natural to here

It tried to sit on our badminton net, but fell off and flew to a tree where
my Mom got quite a good look at it. It sounds like a trogon, and if it is,
it's most likely an escapee. I'll let you know if I see it.

Thanks,

Tyler
