Hi Tweets,
We also had a chance to hunt for birds on our way to a convention
in Hope, B.C. We had three target birds.(June 16), at Othello we
found a Para Lake, but not a Para Pond, nor did we find a White-faced
Ibis. The same day we looked for the Least Flycatcher at the mouth of
the Okanogan River, found the cement pot but no bird. We did find a
Catbird, an epidomax feeding young, but it never made a sound, and we
don't think it was a Least. It was interesting to watch the feeding
ritual, as the adult would come to the young, they would go in a
spinning flutter all the way to the ground. After the young ate, it
would sit on the ground for quite a while before flying back to a
branch. That was the 2nd. miss.
On June 21 we stopped at Toppenish NWR to look for Bobolink. Found
one ranger to talk to, but he didn't even know what a Bobolink was.
So, that was miss 3.
We did see 97 species for the trip. Larry and Jacque Walla Walla
