This past week during a flying trip to Helena MT, I observed a pair of what
appeared to be mountain bluebirds at seed feeders. Never together, but one
had a pale rosy breast while the other was more of an overall blue color.
The owners of the feeders had no bird ID books, and mine were back at the
place I was staying, so I tried to ID from a 3-hr memory, and said I'd
mention it when I returned to see what you thought.

Also, saw 2 yellow-headed blackbirds on the freeway shoulder just outside
Moses Lake, westbound, on my way home yesterday afternoon...a first for me!

And, this morning, our resident sharp-shinned hawk was found inside our
covered deck area, very tired, but still beating at the window (about 2'
from the open doorway). We tried to gently guide him closer to the door,
but he just froze in the corner. My husband was able to pick him up with a
towel-covering and put him on the picnic table outside. He immediately
flew off and was back on his usual observation post ( double-crook seed
feeder hanger) within 5 minutes...seems fine.
BTW, both house finches also in the porch flew out as we opened the door,
and the German shepherd sleeping on the deck didn't seem to be bothered by
all the fuss.
