Dear Tweets,
I have been off line for almost a year until last week. Good to "hear"
familiar talks and by-lines.
Just a few minutes ago, on Shaw Island, an adult Bald Eagle, looked like it
was going to land on one of our dead tree snags. It then took off with a
crack and the top of the tree in its talons, I presume soon to be nest
material.
I had just been pondering how to convince people around to leave dead trees
alone and not continually talk about their falling on someone or something,
or the fact that they "look ugly". (We had a lawyer neighbor last fall ask
us to remove three living trees because they could lean further over his
driveway and possibly damage his new car as it drove by! )
The beauty I just saw beats a thousand words. The problem was it was just my
husband and I that saw it. Oh for more people to see the beauty in a dead
tree!
Do any of you have some other convincing arguments or stories that might help
people to think differently?
