A friend of mine has a very territorial male Rufous Hummingbird. This bird
guards a feeder and attacks any other Hummers that attempt to feed from it.
The other day a juvie landed on the feeder to rest and the male flew from
it's lookout and started pecking the little guy for a long period of time,
finally the juvenile left. The following morning my friend found the
juvenile dead on the ground below the feeder.
