Shoreview Park: A Promise Broken

Dear Tweeters,
I lied the other night when I promised a certain posting about Shoreview Park
would be my last. But Jo Ann Laz asked me to post one more message with a few
details on two options people have who want to help try to stop the mindless
degeneration of Shoreview Park.

Option 1: Write a letter to the Hearing Examiner

Write to: Hearing Examiner, c/o City of Shoreline, re Shoreview Little League
Project, 17544 Midvale Ave. N. Shoreline, WA 98133. A great cc would be to
Mayor Scott Jepson, City of shoreline 17544 Midvale Ave. N. Shoreline, WA
98133

It isn't necessary that people who write be familiar with the minutia of this
issue. It's enough to state your personal preference for wildlife habitat and
"passive" recreation over sterile grass playing fields (there are already two
athletic fields in this small park) and any other points you want to make are
gravy. (With any creativity at all, there could be other places found for
this ballfield, including sharing use of existing fields with the High
Schools.)

Option 2 ( This is a little redundant--thanks Kevin and Irene!)Come to the
Hearing on 7:00 Pm July 7 at the City Council Meeting at Shoreline.

It really helps to have as many people as possible at these things. This is
at the Shoreline Conference Center at 18560 1st Ave. NE in shoreline. If one
were getting off the 175th Ave. Exit from I-5, they would then go west to
Aurora. Then a right on Aurora (north) to 185th street. Make a right (east)
on 185th Street to 1st Ave Ne and turn left . Enter the compound, an large
old high school, at its general middle area and the conference center is there
at the most main entrance.

Thanks. There's not a huge amount of habitat at stake but rarely do we see a
small remnant patch of nice habitat in a heavily developed area so deeply
undervalued. This can happen anywhere, though, so the fight will have
ramifications beyond Shoreline.
