Lee Cain and I checked the nestboxes placed at the Astoria Mitigation
Bank this spring by Astoria High School Students today. The boxes are
standard 6x8x8 bluebird-type boxes and were intended to provide
cavity nests for Tree Swallows.

The Astoria Mitigation Bank is a wetland near the Astoria Airport,
Clatsop Co. OR

The results follow:

0 old nest (only box remaining from placements in 1990)
1 TRES grass nest cup with feathers, no eggs, no evidence of hatching
2 TRES grass cup with no feathers, no eggs, no evidence of hatching
3 Empty
4 TRES with 4 eggs, possibly abandoned
5 BCCH 5 yng apprx 8-10 days old, parents nearby one with gr caterpillar
6 Empty
7 TRES grass cup with feathers
8 TRES 5 eggs, male nearby
9 TRES three young less than 24hr old, one unhatched egg
10 TRES 4 young apprx 8-10 days old
11 Empty
