Hi Tweets,

I must say, this surprises me a little too. I never had problems with
wrens and chickadees co-existing in my backyard in St. Louis. Usually,
the Chickadees started nesting first, and the wrens chose the other box
when they came back a few weeks later. I have lost chickadees to House
Sparrows though. I didn't know it at the time, but the sparrows had
actually been chewing on the entrance to the nest box and made the hole
big enough to get through...next thing I knew, there was a dead demale
chickadee on the nest over 8 eggs she had been incubating for just over
a week...A word of warning...make sure your nest box entrance holes are
too small for House Sparrows, unless your box is for a larger bird (in
which case this is unavoidable.)
