Subject: Arctic Terns in Everett?

While we heard terns overhead, we were concentrating on the gray whales.
I'm afraid I'm not expert enough to distinquish Arctic from Caspian by
sound. However I would say they sounded like the typical Caspians that used
to be so abundant up there. If you get a chance to go back out there, the
whales were roughly between Jetty Island and Hat Island with a tendency to
be closer to Hat. We were in a small Zodiac-style inflatible and got VERY
close (at least one swam right under us). When they spouted you could SMELL
their breath (not that pleasant, but much better smelling than the breath of
sea lions!).
