i wanted to thank the person who so kindly mentioned here
that there are several copies of the sparrows and buntings
(byers et al) book at the Ubookstore. i went there this
morning, first thing, and got a copy of this long-coveted
(for me) book.

not only does this book have nice range maps and drawings of
all the species, but it also contains lovely drawings of
feathers within the text that aid in identifying juveniles
of different species, determining whether a particular specimen
is juvenile or adult or male/female.

it's a nice book at a great price! and there are still three
brand-spankin'-new-never-been-opened copies waiting to join
someone's ornithological library.
