No, rabbits aren't birds, but I thought some of you avid birders, who
would like to get out to the Columbia Basin to catch a glimpse of a
sage sparrow or thrasher or two, might help us (Washington
Department of Fish & Wildlife) out next month when we look for
endangered pygmy rabbit burrows in the Douglas County area.
We're conducting day-long surveys April 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 19, 20, 21,
22, and 23, and we need at least six volunteers each day. You
must be able to walk all day in any kind of spring weather (dress
appropriately and bring lunch & water in daypack.) If you're
interested, call our Wenatchee office at 509-662-0452, or leave a
message for district wildlife biologist John Musser at 509-663-9764,
to advise which survey day(s) you can help. THANKS!
