About 1700 PST, Saturday, February 27, 1999, I saw an immature GOLDEN EAGLE
soaring over the Grande Ronde River along Interstate 84 just west of the
town of LeGrande. At first, I thought it was a Bald Eagle since it was
right over the river. However, as we approached, I found it was a Golden.
The bird was all black except for the clean white patch at the base of the
tail feathers and the clean white patch at the base of the primaries. The
weather was a mix of snow and rain, rather heavy and steady.
