Just wanted to note that there are some sportswriters/columnists who
promote birding. In NE WA Rich Landers writes for the Spokesman Review, the
only paper here in Spokane. Although, given the area and populace it
covers, Landers columns tend to have hunting and fishing as subjects, he
very often has columns about birding, salmon problems (pro-breaching), and
environmental questions as they relate to birds and other wildlife. He also
has occasional notes in other parts of the Sports section (outside of his
main column) mentioning birding activities, when that information is
provided to him in time for publication.
