Marissa, the Community Garden on Capitol Hill is located on Thomas Street
and 10th Ave. mid-block.
I also moved (back here) after living quite a while in Illinois and New York
City. So I also am learning "new birds". The Vashon bird sounds like it
could be a Gold Crowned Kinglet, kinda look like a "punked out" chickadee.
re: the chicken sounding crow...a way to get little chicks over for
dinner,"come to Momma"?
In New York City we had a Northern Mocking Bird that did a perfect imation
of a female cat in season...so good that every Tom in the neighborhood would
respond, there would be the bird, sitting high on the school playground
light, with the ground below covered with fighting Tom cats...never could
figure out the reason the bird chose to use that call, seemed to be sort of
dangerous!
