Off and on all winter we've had a female yellow-shafted flicker eating at our suet. (She is missing the red crescent so must be a little bit of a cross). She is undaunted by the starlings and in fact has even chased them away.
My question is: When she breeds with the red-shafted male that is hanging around, what will the babies look like? Is the inheritance pattern dominant for one or the other or will the babies turn out a mixture? Either way I hope they get her feistiness!
