Saturday, March 6
----------------------------
Jocelyn Hill area of the Highlands district was the spot to be, as 2
GOLDEN EAGLES were over the area.

5 PINE GROSBEAKS were seen along the ridgetop trail on Jocelyn Hill.

2 HUTTON'S VIREOS were singing at the corner of Caleb Pike North Road
and Millstream Road, all in the Highlands district.

WESTERN MEADOWLARKS were expressing signs of spring with singing birds
at the west end of Henry Road near the Victoria airport in North
Saanich, and another singing bird at the west end of Mills X Rd. also
near the airport in North Saanich.

Individual VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were over Observation Hill in Saanich
and at Saxe Point in Esquimalt.

In the Nanaimo area, 2 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were still at Buttertubs Marsh
near Nanaimo.

Also there, but not in association with the Bohemian Waxwings, were
about 20 CEDAR WAXWINGS.

The first winter YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was still at or near 6962
Dumount Rd. west of Nanaimo. The bird was seen at that address and then
further up the hill from that address. To find Dumount Rd. turn west
onto Jingle Pot - Molstar exit, that's exit 24 from the Nanaimo by-pass
of Island Highway. Then turn almost immediately right onto Biggs Rd. for
about 3.5 km to Dumount Rd. 6962 Dumount Rd. is about 1 km along from
Biggs Rd.


Friday, March 5
------------------------
A single GOLDEN EAGLE was seen at Gordon's Beach west of Sooke.

2 VIRGINIA RAILS were calling from Rithet's Bog on Chatterton Way in
Saanich.

Large numbers of birds were in the waters of Ladysmith harbour, at the
Cedar/Oyster Cove Rd. A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was in that area on February
22 and has not been reported since.

2 RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS were at Shawnigan Beach Estates south of
Duncan.

A second winter HEERMANN'S GULL was at Clover Point in Victoria.

A HUTTON'S VIREO was near the bandshell in Beacon Hill Park in Victoria.


Thursday, March 4
----------------------------
An EARED GREBE was at Bazan Bay off Lochside Rd. in North Saanich.


Wednesday, March 3
-------------------------------
Individual GLAUCOUS GULLS were at Clover Point in Victoria and Tzouhalem
Farm which is opposite the Doman's Sawmill in Cowichan Bay.
