I suspect, based on my observations here in the Columbia Basin where we
also are getting increasingly large flocks of resident CANADA GEESE
mixing with increasing numbers of feral domestic geese, that we're going
to be seeing more of this sort of thing. Some of the resident CANADA
GEESE here don't seem to be very discriminating in the company they keep
and the feral domestic geese often seem to be VERY persistant and
undiscriminating in their courtships. In fact, here the feral domestic
geese seem to be more successful in producing offspring which survive to
adulthood when they mate with CANADA GEESE than when they pair off with
other feral domestic geese.
