Yesterday, March l0, had a good look at a 3rd year Golden Eagle soaring
a few hundred feet over the head of Sequim Bay near Blyn, Wa.. They were
quite common at Malheur N.W.R. at Burns, OR when I was the refuge
biologist there from l960 to l964. Banded a few there. They would perch
on power poles, and every now and then we'd find a dead one underneath
when they apparently were electrocuted. They loved Black-tailed
Jackrabbits of which there were plenty in the sagebrush flats,
especially around Harney Lake.
