Along Lk Washington Blvd about 8am there was a juvenile bald eagle
hanging out in one of the trees overlooking Sayers Pits. Decided to swing
out of my usual way for a better view. THat done, I had to head a little
more south for asafe turn-around. At the intersection of Lake Washington Blvd and So
50th, traffic had come to a complete halt all three ways. JUst off shore,
an adult eagle was having one heck of a time catching breakfast. THe eagle
had isolated one coot (?, couldn't really tell). The eagle would swoop,
the coot would dive. Coot would come up for air, eagle would dive. THey
went at it for at least 5 minutes, without resolution, until some of the
cars in the backup got impatient and everyone had to move on. Pretty
amazing way to start the morning.
