Hi Tweets!

Yesterday afternoon while I was out for my second walk, I stopped at the
intersection of Russell Road and James Street and got to see one of the
scraggly immature BALD EAGLES. I got to chatting with a man and his wife
who were also gazing at the young eagle.

He works for the City Of Kent and told me that BURROWING OWLS were
discovered making their home in the Kent Ponds/GRNRA! He also explained
how the area may be kept closed during the summer while the young owls
are being raised. The terrain in the GRNRA makes sense for burrowing owl
habitat.

Did I hear him correctly? Burrowing Owls all the way up here in the
Seattle area?

I recall seeing them in Bakersfield, CA area. Do they really live this
far north?
