On Sunday, March 14, I wet gray whale watching out of Westport with the
Seattle Aquarium.

On the drive down, on the side of the road, near the McCleary turnoff, I saw
what appeared to be a rapton feeding on a road ill deer. I made a quick turn
around and on closer inspection, it turned out to be a Red Tailed Hawk feeding
on a Bull Mastiff dog road ill!! Ever the opportunistic Red Tail. Certainly
a first for me!

It was too rough to cross the bar to search for whales so we stayed in the
estuary.

Birds of note seen in the harbor and the estuary:

Common Loons
Red Necked Grebes
Marbled Murrelets
Double Crested Cormorants
Brandt's Cormorants
Surf Birds
Black Turnstones
Western Grebes
Horned Grebes
Bald Eagle (perched on a navagational marker)

Oh, yes, three gray whales feeding on ghost shrimp in the estuary.
