Hi all,

I'm not a Tweeters subscriber so don't know the proper format or protocol
(if any) but a friend suggested that I should post this here.

Three of us saw a gorgeous long-eared owl on Sunday, 3/14/99, in full
sunlight (late afternoon, about 4 p.m), alongside the Padilla Bay Waterfront
Trail just south of Bayview State Park in Skagit County. It was alongside a
ditch on the east side of the trail, about 1/2 mile from the north end of the
trail; we saw it sitting on the ground in plain view, about 20 feet off the
trail, and watched it fly twice. It hooted once.

Obviously a long-ear, with those long, slender, narrowly-space upright
ears and gorgeous solid-colored deep chestnut cheek patches.
