Bill:

Those weights you gave sounded much too light for Great Horned Owls, so I
rechecked the Audubon Society Encyclopedia. Looks like you accidentlally
skipped ahead one page and got the weights for Long-eared Owls (p.669). The
weigh range for Great Horned Owls is given on p.668 as 680 to 2,503 gms. It
doesn't specify the sex, in this case. I see that Dan Logen has emailed you
some weights taken from a very good source. They look quite good, and I'd
use them.

>I could use some help. I'm preparing a class report on Great Horned Owls.
>The only weights I can find in the books available to me are in the Audubon
>Society Encyclopedia of North American Birds (Terres). It says males
>average 245 gms, females average 280 gms. I find that hard to believe!
>Does anyone have any other figures?
>Thanks for your help.
