BNA #372 on the Great Horned Owl says:

"Female heavier than male; masses of 895 males and 772 females (all
subspecies combined) averaged 1304 g and 1706 g, respectively (Craighead
and Craighead 1956); 94 of each sex had mean of 1142 g and 1509 g,
respectively (Snyder and Wiley 1976; specimens from 7 museums). Mass of
several subspecies: 22 males and 29 females of virginianus averaged 1318 g
and 1769 g, respectively, and 18 males and 12 females of pallescens
averaged 914 g and 1142 g, respectively; 1 female of virginianus weighed
2503 g; smallest male pacificus weighed only 680 g (Earhart and Johnson
1970)."
