There is a rufous hummer that has been perched on the tops of
trees on my way down from my office to the parking lot on the UW
campus. It's a nice way to end a day inside by hearing, what I call
metallic creaks from the trees, knowing he's up there somewhere.

Usually don't have nocs with me. Today on going down the stairs, I
heard this enormous CHEEP! And was quite surprised and looked around
to see what i might be. It was the hummer. He then went back to his
creaking sounds. Something must have surprised him.

I don't remember ever hearing anything quite that loud from a hummingbird.
I was quite impressed.
