hello tweetsters.

despite the fact that i am wearing a clunky old cast on my
hand and arm, i managed to quickly breeze through juanita
bay park, looking for the three white-faced whistling ducks
(Dendrocygna viduata), but i didn't have any luck finding
them. the trip was still worth it, though, because i have
found another nice birding place that is very close to
seattle (and i thought i had visited them all at one time or
another!). i was rewarded by several elegant canvasback,
male and female, along with common mergansers, many ruddy
duck, winter-plumaged horned grebe, several western grebe,
and lots of turtles! i also saw at least ten tree swallows
flying overhead -- FINALLY spring is here! i also saw a LOT
of beaver-chewed trees and lots of beaver dams and a few
beaver lodges.

on the way back home, i stopped briefly at juanita beach
for a quick look-see at the gulls and ducks, but it was
getting late so the birds were snuggling in to their
favorite roosts for the night.

overall, i enjoyed walking through juanita bay park and i plan
to visit it again soon, when i have more time to enjoy its
birds and other wildlife.
