For those trying to look this up, the WFWD appears in two guide books that
I could find - Costa Rica, which is its normal range, and Birds of Britain

At different times and different places, I ave seen strangely marked
dusks. Not finding anything like them in any of my bird books, I set
for " catalogs " for ordering domestic ducks amd geese. - with color
pictures. I o longer have the catalogs. I was able to identify some of
the strange ducks, though. There is one calle3d an' Indian runner'. It
is tall and reminds one of the shape of a whistling duck. They have the
white face, and so0me shite on the black neck I have pictures of some
of them. I have usually seen them with mallards.

The last one I saw, (yr ago?). was somewhere in the Sequim area-or Pt
Angelos. I have some pictures of it. But it did not have white on it.
It was mostly black, with a green head like a mallard.......very pretty.
