Janet and I did the 5 mile Nisqually loop Saturday morning. It was a
gorgeous out. Of note were a couple of Pacific Loons in the inlet
along the SW side of the refuge. Some nice close looks. ;-)

Flocks of Yellow-rumped Warblers, both Audubon's and Myrtles made their
way through the trees in the east side.

Out near the west corner of the loop on the inside we saw what I at first
thought might be a martin but after looking at the pictures in Dennis
Paulson's new field guide, it had the exact color and features of a mink.
We got quite close by taking a path down to a blind which passed near a
bramble. The mink emerged from the bramble close to us. We observed each
other at for several moments. Quite nice! Are minks common at
Nisqually??
