Just about a mile away, on Long Lake, one pair of Wood Ducks has returned
(we had two pairs last summer). They come up to the feeder on the porch,
but I'm afraid they have to compete with the local Mallards, who are much
larger and very jealous of "their" feeding territory. We put up a Wood
Duck box above the lake, and we're hoping to see ducklings this year. But
no hummers yet.
